County Expands Relief Fund as ICE Raids Keep Hitting Small Businesses

LOS ANGELES – The County is sending another $3.6 million to small businesses hit by ongoing federal immigration raids after the first round of relief left hundreds of eligible applicants without funding.

More than 850 businesses will receive grants through the county’s Small Business Resiliency Fund, officials announced Thursday. The program was launched last year as raids upended immigrant communities and the businesses that rely on them for workers and customers.

The first round, rolled out in December, delivered about $1.53 million to 367 businesses. It also left a large gap. Supervisor Hilda Solis said 146 eligible businesses in her district alone did not get funded, prompting her to add $649,000 from her discretionary budget…
