Woman dies after kayak overturns in Tomales Bay; boyfriend, dog rescued

A woman died after her kayak overturned in Tomales Bay on Saturday, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.

Her boyfriend and his dog, who were clinging to the overturned boat survived, authorities said.

The woman, identified in media reports as 37-year-old Brigitte Manspeaker, of Los Angeles, was found floating face-down in the water roughly 200 meters away, according to the sheriff’s office. Her boyfriend told authorities that she had slipped out of her life jacket. Responders brought Manspeaker to shore and attempted to resuscitate her until paramedics arrived.
