L.A. convenience store worker assaulted by shoplifter, suffers serious head injury

A convenience store worker is fighting for his life after being knocked to the ground by a shoplifter who was attempting to flee an East Los Angeles business earlier this month, the shop’s owners told KTLA on Thursday.

The March 17 incident happened shortly before 1 p.m. at a Chevron station in the 200 block of South Atlantic Boulevard.

The owners shared video of the encounter with KTLA that appears to show a man taking items off store shelves while an employee stands near the entrance. The man then walks toward the register with an item in his hand, but suddenly turns and runs out of the store without paying…
