Hazmat responds to electric vehicle fire at Audi dealership

An electric vehicle located at the Audi Valencia dealership caught fire and prompted shelter-in-place orders while the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s HAZMAT team responded to the scene on Wednesday evening.

First responders were dispatched to the 23900 block of Creekside Road at 6:22 p.m. in response to an electric vehicle fire, according to Edith Lai, a spokeswoman for the L.A. County Fire Department.

HAZMAT was called to the scene to assist in determining whether there was possible contamination in the immediate area due to the electric vehicle’s lithium-ion batteries, and this prompted shelter-in-place orders to the public in the nearby area, according to Lai.
