Police Officer Fraud: 2 members of LAPD accused of collecting unemployment while on the job

The Los Angeles County Attorney’s Office has charged two members of the Los Angeles Police Department with insurance fraud, claiming that they collected more than $77,000 in unemployment benefits while they were on the force.

Peter Mastrocinque, 47, and Nicole Ashley Grant, 40, were each charged with one felony count of insurance fraud and one felony count of unemployment insurance fraud. They face up to five years in state prison.

According to the LA County District Attorney’s Office, Mastrocinque and Grant allegedly filed claims for unemployment benefits from September 2020 to January 2022, during the COVID-19 pandemic, even though they were working full time as police officers as well as at another place of employment. Mastrocinque allegedly received approximately $42,750 in unemployment benefits from the California Employment Development Department. Grant allegedly collected around $34,800…
