Los Angeles – City leaders took a decisive step toward safer streets this week. The Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved the installation of 125 speed safety cameras across the city, targeting areas plagued by excessive speeding and collisions.[1][2] This pilot program, enabled by state law, addresses a persistent issue where speeding contributed to one in five fatal crashes in 2024.[3] Officials aim to reduce injuries and deaths through automated enforcement, marking a shift from traditional policing methods.
