Eight people were arrested for defrauding Medicare in Los Angeles, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Thursday. Those in custody include three nurses, a chiropractor and a psychologist.
Federal officials say more than $50 million was billed to Medicare as part of the scheme, which involved fake hospice care facilities and enrolling people who were not terminally ill as beneficiaries. Arrests were made from Simi Valley to Anaheim, with one defendant taken into custody in Idaho.
