Louisville promoter The Other Side of Life has announced two upcoming performances.
On Saturday, August 15, 2026, Victor Vieira-Branco’s Bark Culture will perform at B-Side in Louisville, with the live debuts of Zeus, Again and The Gleaming Corridor. Bark Culture is led by vibraphonist Victor Vieira-Branco, with Joey Sullivan on drums and John Moran on bass. The group’s recent work places the vibraphone in a mobile setting that draws from improvised music, jazz, and chamber-like ensemble detail. Zeus, Again brings together Ken Brown, Bob Dixon, and Mathias Kolehmainen on electric bass, electric guitar, and drums, while The Gleaming Corridor is the instrumental electronic solo project of Ben Sears.
On Friday, September 4, 2026, The Other Side of Life and Roots 101 African-American Museum will present the first Louisville performance by the Joe McPhee / Ken Vandermark / Chris Corsano Trio. The grouping brings together McPhee on saxophone and voice, Vandermark on reeds, and Corsano on drums and percussion. Although the trio is new, the relationships among the players are not: McPhee and Vandermark have worked together since the 1990s, McPhee and Corsano have an extensive duo history, and Vandermark and Corsano have collaborated in multiple settings.
