CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WAVE) – The Clarksville Police Department has confirmed that ICE agents used its headquarters as a staging area earlier this week. According to our partners, the News and Tribune, at least 28 people were detained between Wednesday and Thursday in Clark County.
Neighbors and community organizations said they have noticed an increased federal presence in the area in recent days.
Restaurant closes amid community fear
El Mañanero Breakfast Spot, a restaurant on Eastern Boulevard that has become very popular for the area’s large Latino community, closed Thursday. Owner Noe Muñoz said he made the decision in response to the climate in the community.
“I know there was a lot of fear yesterday and the day before with ICE,” Muñoz said. “My customers, I mean, they don’t want to go out. They don’t want to drive just because they’re pulling over random people and profiling for no apparent reason.”…
