Metro Planning Commission asked to consider change to zoning for new alcohol businesses

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A long-running debate over bars and liquor licenses in Louisville’s Highlands could resurface as Metro leaders look for new ways to slow the growth of alcohol-related businesses.

Now, Metro Council has asked the Planning Commission to consider adding new restrictions through the zoning code, after a liquor store opened across the street from Moore High School. Proposed changes include distance requirements and adjustments to which zoning categories would allow liquor stores automatically.
