River City Firearms lawsuit gets trial date

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) — A judge has set a trial date in a major lawsuit tied to the 2023 Old National Bank mass shooting, but attorneys say seating an impartial jury could be a challenge.

The lawsuit, filed by victims’ families against River City Firearms, the store that sold the firearm used in the attack, alleges the gun was sold despite “red flags” during the purchase, including claims the buyer appeared unfamiliar with the weapon and avoided eye contact.

River City Firearms has said that Kentucky law and federal protections bar the claims, but a judge denied the store’s motion to dismiss in 2025, allowing the case to move forward…
