Louisville’s Dave Moody is bringing arena-rock tribute ‘Hairball’ home to Kentucky State Fair

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) Fifty years ago, a six-year-old Louisville boy tore the cellophane off a newly delivered copy of KISS’s seminal album, “Destroyer.” When the needle hit the vinyl, his life was changed forever.

“I was infected with rock and roll,” recalled Dave Moody, a veteran bassist and vocalist. “It was a profound strike of lightning and a definite moment at a very young age… I told anybody that would listen that that’s what I was going to do for a living.”

Now, decades later, Moody is returning to his hometown of Louisville to perform at the Kentucky State Fair. On Friday, Aug. 28, he will hit the Texas Roadhouse Stage with Hairball, a premier, bombastic tribute band that recreates the larger-than-life arena rock spectacles of the 1970s and ’80s…
