Louisville Metro Government officials this week fired two of the employees involved in the unintentional killing of a homeless woman during a West End alley cleanup earlier this year.
The Department of Public Works employees received the termination notices on Thursday, according to records obtained by LPM News through the Kentucky Open Records Act. The firings stem from an incident on Feb. 12 when a two-man crew operating a dump truck with a hydraulic claw picked up a pile of debris along with 35-year-old Tyrah Adams, who was asleep under a blanket. Once released from the claw, Adams went into a nearby business where bystanders called 911, but she later died from her injuries.
The Jefferson County Attorney’s Office announced last month that it would not seek criminal charges against any of the employees involved in Adams’ killing. The office said it did not think it could win a conviction in court…
