Kentucky Mass Shooting Survivors File Lawsuit Alleging Gun Seller Missed Red Flags: ‘Made Him More Deadly’

Part of the lawsuit says that a patron who was also in the gun store at the time the shooter purchased the firearm was so concerned she considered calling the police

Survivors of a mass shooting at a bank in Louisville , Kentucky, announced on Monday they were suing a local gun store for allegedly overlooking red flags when it sold an automatic rifle to their coworker.

Connor Sturgeon bought the AR-15-style weapon from River City Firearms just a few days before he carried out the shooting at the Old National Bank in April 2023.

The suit filed Monday, on behalf of four survivors and the relatives of two victims, accuses the store of failing to stop a firearm ending up in the hands of someone incapable of using it responsibly, adding that evidence of red flags was there “in spades.”

“Eyewitness testimony from within the store confirms that he demonstrated a complete lack of knowledge or experience with firearms and that he spoke in an unusually quiet tone and appeared embarrassed upon making eye contact with others, lowering his head and averting his gaze,” the document seen by The Messenger said.
