‘I was going to go halves with my buddy,’ says man who won $50k lottery jackpot after friend declined to split ticket

A KENTUCKY man has won thousands of dollars after his friend declined to split the lotto ticket with him.

Cord Brearton of Willisburg, Kentucky, two hours south of Louisville, bought The Millionaire Club Scratch-off at a PV&P Mart in Springfield.

“I was going to go in half with my buddy, but he told me to just go for it,” Brearton told local CBS affiliate WLKY.

Brearton and his friend were skeptical and checked the winning odds of the lottery before finally purchasing the ticket.

He ultimately picked The Millionaire Club Scratch-off because it was the first number on the ticket roll.

Brearton, without the help of his friend, bought the ticket for $50.

Unable to wait until he got home, Brearton scratched off the ticket in the store.

“I scratched the first bonus, and it was a loser,” Brearton told the Kentucky Lottery.

“Then, I scratched the second bonus, and it said I won $10,000!

“I scanned the barcode, and it said I won $50,000! I couldn’t believe it.”
