LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After decades of helping Kentucky’s most vulnerable, the CEO of St. Joseph Children’s Home is retiring. Grace Akers has championed children for 34 years, starting as a hospital chaplain, then an investigator for child protective services, and for the last 10 years of her career, leading the Louisville-based child welfare agency, St. Joe’s.
