A man is dead after falling into a container while working in the Irish Hill neighborhood Thursday, Louisville Metro Police and Louisville Division of Fire officials said. Louisville Fire crews responded to Louisville Trailer Wash in the 1300 block of East Main Street around 2:08 p.m. after getting a report that a man had fallen into a confined space and hit his head, Louisville Fire spokesperson Donovan Sims said. Fire crews found the man had fallen into a container at the site and began working to extract him by lowering a rescuer into the vessel, Sims said. The man was removed at 2:52 p.m. and taken to UofL Hospital for treatment, where he died shortly after arrival, LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis said. LMPD’s Homicide Unit launched a death investigation following the incident, which is standard procedure, Ellis said. This story may be updated.
