Since 2008, WhistlePig has made a name for itself as one of the best rye whiskeys available anywhere. The Vermont-based brand helped to launch the rye revolution, which brought the style back to prominence after years in the shadows of bourbon and single malt.
Now, it’s set to leave its mark on another American whiskey tradition with the launch of WhistlePig Snout-to-Tail Bourbon Aged 10 Years. While not the first bourbon to be released by the brand, Snout-to-Tail was created as a counterpart to its 10-year-old Small Batch Rye.
WhistlePig Snout-to-Tail gets its name from its maturation process, where each barrel features two distinctly toasted barrel heads: a Vermont oak medium toast at ‘the snout’ end and a Vermont oak smoked maple wood toast at ‘the tail.’ The barrels are flipped during the aging process to make sure each captures the unique toasted flavors added by the heads…
