Changes to Kentucky driver’s permit move forward

FRANKFORT, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Kentucky law allows teens to start driving with a license at 16, but the law only allows students to get an instructional or “learner’s” permit, which an applicant must also be 16 years old to get.

A bill filed by Rep. Steven Rudy (R-Paducah) this year would simply strike out 16 for 15 as the age Kentucky teens can get an instruction permit , joining 23 other states with a similar law.

On Tuesday, the House Transportation Committee approved the bill.
