When I was in middle school, the movie In Country was released, and I thought it was cool that it was shot in and around the Paducah area. The story was based on a novel by Kentucky author Bobbie Ann Mason. It starred Bruce Willis as a Vietnam vet who suffers from PTSD, and British actress Emily Lloyd plays Willis’s niece. Her father was killed in the war.
Fun fact: Willis’s then-wife, Oscar nominee Demi Moore, gave birth to the couple’s first daughter, Rumer, at Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
