LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Starting Monday, March 10, portions of River Road will be closed to traffic as construction begins for Louisville Water’s Residual Line Project. Business owners in the area say they’re worried the closures could have a devastating impact on sales.
“We’ve been really slow,” King Fish general manager Hal Rogers said.
Rogers explained it’s already been a rough start to 2025 with a snowstorm in January and heavy rain and flooding in February. Spring and Derby season tends to be busy for the restaurant, which was founded in 1948, but now that is up in the air.
“We don’t know what to do,” he added. “It’s going to turn 75 degrees, and don’t know if we’re going to be busy or not because a lot of people are calling and going, ‘Oh, I hear River Road is going to be closed.’”
The project will be completed in phases and is expected to take two years to complete. John Varanese owns River House Restaurant and Raw Bar. Varanese said he’s worried about whether his business would survive the closures because of the length of the project…
