Two West End schools to merge, another to split up under new JCPS plan

Two elementary schools in Louisville’s West End could be combined next year, and the area’s middle school could be split into two buildings, according to a new proposal from Jefferson County Public School leaders.

Citing low enrollment at both Whitney Young and Engelhard elementary schools, Superintendent Marty Pollio will recommend merging the two schools during a Jefferson County Board of Education meeting Tuesday.
