Lawsuit dismissed against former LMPD officer who hit kneeling protester in head in 2020

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A judge has thrown out a lawsuit against Louisville Metro government and a former Louisville Metro Police Department officer who hit a kneeling protester in the head.

During the Breonna Taylor protests on May 31, 2020, a man was kneeling with his hands in the air when then LMPD Officer Cory Evans hit him in the back of the head with a riot stick.

The U.S. Department of Justice charged Evans with violating a person’s civil rights, a charge he would later plead guilty to. He was sentenced to two years in prison and an additional two years of supervised probation…
