Louisville weather: Severe storms possible Wednesday due to strong winds, hail from cold front

Severe winds and hail could arrive in Louisville Wednesday as gusts of 40 mph or more move into Kentucky and southern Indiana, according to the National Weather Service in Louisville .

The Louisville metro area is under a “marginal risk” for severe weather Wednesday, though the threat of tornadoes is low, NWS officials stated in an update Tuesday morning. Storms are expected to arrive from the west as early as 4 p.m. and exit to the east by midnight.

Severe conditions are possible due to a cold front bringing strong wind gusts, NWS meteorologist Chase Graham said. Nickel- to quarter-size hail may fall, but it may not be as large as it was in some areas of the Louisville metro Saturday…
