Louisville Tourism took to Facebook to share the news of the new playscape that they say has been designed to be both “inclusive and engaging” for visitors of all ages.
PlayPort Is aThree-Acre Science-Based Park and Playground
The new park, or PlayPort as they call it, is now part of Waterfront Park, and spans across three acres and features science-based play and learning opportunities.
PlayPort Incorporates ‘Authentic Artifacts’
Located in the Portland neighborhood of Louisville and featuring “authentic artifacts“, the PlayPort has been created to honor the rich history of the Ohio River, and its significance to the Louisville community.
Part of the park’s phase IV expansion, the $15 million, three-acre science-based play and learning area includes an epic playground that pays homage to the Ohio River’s rich cultural and industrial heritage with authentic artifacts converted to play structures. – Louisville Tourism
Special Signage and QR Codes Offer Info and Hands-On Opportunities for Learning
Thanks to a partnership with the Kentucky Science Center and Waterfront Park, PlayPort also includes special signage throughout the park and playground that includes educational content, as well as play prompts, and even special QR codes that can be used to view videos offering simple, hands-on opportunities for learning.
