Proposed $1.2B Louisville budget invests in public safety, housing

LOUISVILLE — Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg’s annual budget address proposed $1.26 billion in spending for Priorities, Progress, & Performance, highlighting the city’s positive financial position while also stressing the need to speed up the progress even more in the coming months and years.

He spoke about the budget Thursday in the Metro Council Chambers at City Hall, in front of a full room of Metro employees, Council members, community leaders, and other interested Louisville citizens.

“When you add up Metro’s investment income from this current year, along with an increase in other one-time and recurring revenues, we’re looking at a projected budget surplus of near $50 million,” said Mayor Greenberg. “That means more resources to invest back into our priorities next year.”…
