Foster child expresses gratitude to late adoptive mother for life-changing impact

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Gina Pedrick went through seven different foster homes. She was put in her first home at 11 years old and didn’t find her forever home until three years later.

She moved to that forever home in the middle of the night. Her prior foster home has been shut down due to drug use that she didn’t know about. At the time, she didn’t know she would be moving into her permanent home.

“Going through foster care you build up this defense where you’re like, ‘I don’t want to be close to anybody, I’m not unpacking my suitcase’,” Pedrick said.

Her foster mother, Katherine Ann Moses, assured her this time was different. She told her to unpack her suitcase and get comfortable because she’ll be there for a long time…
