New Albany’s Harvest Homecoming Festival is increasing security and safety efforts for the 2025 event following the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Bryce Gerlach in 2024.
Changes to security measures include a joint command center operated by the New Albany Police Department and Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, along with adjusted festival hours, new fencing and barricades to facilitate crowd control, clearly marked entry points for vehicles and a requirement for minors to be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older in the ride area.
“We remain committed to continuously evaluating and enhancing our safety efforts to support the well-being of all participants,” event organizers said in a post on Facebook. “We sincerely appreciate the continued support of our vendors, patrons and the broader community.”…
