LMPD: Violent crime down considerably, except for business robberies

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – According to newly-released data from the Louisville Metro Police Department, every major category of violent crime is decreasing this year except for one: business robberies.

According to data sent to WAVE News by LMPD, business robberies are up 12 percent in 2025. There have been 28 this year compared to 25 last year. Those numbers also include three bank robberies.

However, violent crime as a whole is down considerably. LMPD Chief Paul Humphrey said homicides are down about 30 percent, LMPD’s Homicide clearance rate is up 10 percent, car jackings are down 39 percent and Robbery Unit carjackings are down 25 percent…
