York statue in downtown Louisville damaged by saw, police say

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The arm of the York Statue in downtown Louisville was damaged after someone tried to saw it off.

Dwight Mitchell, a spokesman for Louisville Metro Police, said officers responded to the Belvedere on Friday at 3:30 p.m. on the reported damage. The statue sits atop the Belvedere near Fifth and Main streets and overlooks the Ohio River.
