We’re starting to get into a “rinse & repeat” cycle around our area for the weekend and for a good chunk of the work week as well. If you have outdoor plans today, you’re going to have to dodge scattered storms this afternoon. Here’s what some of those could look like:
A lot of the morning is/has been dry. That is because this is when we are at our coolest. As we start to warm up, we build up more storm energy. With a low pressure moving right over us nearly, it provides the “spark” needed to get storms going.
The longer we go into the afternoon, the more scattered showers and storms will begin to pop-up. There is still some dry time in the afternoon, but there will still likely be numerous storms moving in and out of our viewing area.
Since our dew points are in the upper 60s/low 70s, the atmosphere has plenty of moisture to work with. That means any showers and storms that do roll through our area will likely have very heavy rainfall with them, similar to what some of us saw yesterday. Could any of them be severe? It’s not very likely…
