LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The days of public school teachers, coaches and volunteers in Kentucky texting students for school-related matters are coming to an end.
And in Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS), they’re already over as the school district moves to be in compliance with Senate Bill 181, set to take effect Friday.
SB 181, which Kentucky lawmakers passed in an effort to prevent child sexual abuse, requires local school boards make all electronic communication between staff and students traceable, restricting the way teachers and students talk outside the classroom.
