LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Volunteers of America Mid States (VOA) is closing one of it’s outreach programs because funding for it was “paused indefinitely.”
In a post on social media, the VOA said it is closing its Outreach and Prevention program July 1. It helped raise awareness on sexually transmitted diseases and provided free testing, according to its Facebook page.
“As many of you may have seen, all federal [Centers for Disease Control] funding for HIV Prevention has been paused indefinitely across the United States,” the group said. “Our team was fully funded through the Ending the HIV Epidemic prevention grant, and without this support, we are unable to continue our services.”…
