Indiana’s first capital will start allowing outdoor alcohol consumption in time for annual Harrison County Popcorn Festival

CORYDON, Ind. — Southern Indiana has added another city where people can enjoy alcohol outdoors. This time in the heart of Hoosier’s spirit at the first capital of the state Corydon, Indiana.

On April 1 the Town Council approved an ordinance that will allow people 21 years of age or older to buy alcoholic beverages from approved vendors, like restaurants, and carry them outside their doors in a specific cup within a certain boundary.

“It’s called a DORA,” the superintendent of Parks for Harrison County Larry Shickles said. “Which is a Designated Outdoor Recreation Area. It was established by the Town Council. We’re just now starting to get all the components and pieces together so that we can have it in time for the Popcorn Festival.”…
