Educational initiative for children affected by gun violence launches 5th year of programming

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville nonprofit is launching its fifth year of an educational initiative that supports children affected by gun violence.

Christopher 2X’s Game Changers has devoted resources to supporting children impacted by gun violence with the Future Healers program, which is a partnership between the Game Changers, UofL Hospital’s Trauma Institute and students at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. The goal of the program is to help Louisville children who have been impacted by violence in their neighborhoods to build a better future.

The Future Healers program has expanded substantially since it started in 2021. The program is expanding to Bardstown, the first rural expansion in the state. The program for children ages 4 to 13 years old has already expanded to Nashville.

Bardstown Elementary School, the nonprofit Our CommonWealth and Flaget Memorial Hospital’s STEMP program partnered with Christopher 2X Game Changers to bring the program to Nelson County. There will be 330 elementary-age students in Bardstown participating in the program this year…
