It’s only been a little over a week since Ozzy Osbourne left this stage for his next stop on the tour. The world is still reeling. We’re revisiting his music and grieving the loss of a legend. One of Ozzy’s most well-known songs is Crazy Train. Many musicians and groups have performed cover versions, but no group does it quite the same way as The Louisville Leopard Percussionists, who perform Crazy Train on xylophones.
When the group of kids began performing this Ozzy classic, Ozzy said, “Myself, my whole family, and my fans all loved your rendition of Crazy Train. Keep up the good work!” You can’t get higher praise than that! Ozzy donated $10,000 to the non-profit to help them continue performing. They performed Crazy Train on xylophones on stage in 2018. Watch that performance below!
The Louisville Leopard Percussionists are a group of kids ranging from second to twelfth grade. They all live in and around the Louisville, Kentucky area. The ensemble dates back to 1993, when teacher Diane Downs found some old instruments in a forgotten storage closet. Ten years later, a freestanding 501(c)(3) non-profit was launched.
The performing ensemble provides musical experience for youngsters to enrich their lives and build community. By drawing participants from a diverse community, they offer skills that build self-confidence, creativity, and teach personal values.
