Louisville metro council passes ordinance, adds another step in preventing copper wire theft

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Copper thefts have been a constant problem across the Louisville Metro for years, and city leaders are continue to come up with solutions.

Council members overwhelming passed a new ordinance that adds additional penalties for thieves who try to pawn.

“It is a cost to the taxpayer,” Councilman Markus Winkler said. “Ultimately that’s who pays to replace the wire.”…
