‘Burned from head to toe.’ | Southern Indiana home explosion survivors struggle with medical costs

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — Several survivors of a Jeffersonville, Indiana home explosion are still wrapped in gauze as they recover from their injuries more than five days after their house blew up.

“One of the members smelled gas. And then she said within a few minutes, everything was just gone. It was just within the blink of an eye, everything disappeared,” Alicia Denson said. The local preschool teacher is coordinating with Arbana James, who is related to the Atkinson family, to raise money for the Atkinsons since their home on Washington Way is gone.

“It was just heartbreaking,” Denson said. “They’re all completely burned from head-to-toe and have a long road to recovery.”…
