LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – As Jefferson County Public Schools students head back to the classroom on Thursday, they’ll be met with a sweeping change: a new law that restricts the use of cell phones in school.
While Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) leadership gave guidance, every school had to come up with its own cell phone ban policy.
At Doss High School, students will have to put their phones away immediately when school starts at 8:40 a.m. Dr. Julie Chancellor, the school’s executive principal, explained, if a student is caught using their phone more than once, the phone will be locked in a container that the school bought. The student will keep the container with them and will only be able to unlock it with a special magnet once school is over for the day…
