Gunfire near Louisville bus stops on first day of school prompts search for suspect

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville Metro Police is asking for help tracking down a person who fired gunshots near downtown on Thursday morning.

According to a news release from LMPD, several 911 callers reported hearing shots fired between the 900 and 1100 blocks of West Chestnut Street around 8:07 a.m. Responding officers did not find any victims at the scene, but investigators later determined that a man had fired a gun in the 1000 block before fleeing on foot.

Two Jefferson County Public Schools are near that area – Central High School and Coleridge-Taylor Montessori Elementary, and police noted the incident occurred while children were at nearby bus stops…
