LOUISVILLE, Ky. — This year’s winners of the largest pumpkin and watermelon contest at the Kentucky State Fair have been crowned.
Josh Monin won first place for the largest pumpkin this year. His gigantic gourd weighed 1,621 pounds, which is nearly 500 pounds heavier than last year’s winning-pumpkin.
Nick McCaslin won the first place prize with this year’s largest watermelon at 258.4 pounds, which is 25 pounds larger than last year’s winner.
Along with bragging rights, Monin received a $3,242 prize and McCaslin received $500 for growing the largest pumpkin and watermelon.
