VIDEO | Man facing domestic violence charge tackled by deputies after bolting from courtroom

LOUISVILLE, Ky., (WDRB) — A man in custody facing strangulation and domestic abuse charges fled a Louisville courtroom Wednesday and ran down escalators toward the exit before deputies took him to the ground, according to an arrest citation and video of the incident.

Wisam Khalil was brought from Metro Corrections to a holdover area in Jefferson district court and was talking to his attorney about his domestic violence case when he bolted through a door into the courtroom, according to the arrest report.

As he ran through the courtroom into the hallway and down the escalator, Khalil ignored orders to stop and refused to comply with commands until deputies took him down in the lobby, the report claims.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Lt. Col. Carl Yates said no one was injured during the incident…
