Kentucky Baby Born at Just 1 Pound Goes Home After 622 Days in Hospital

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY – A remarkable journey of survival has come full circle as a Kentucky baby, born weighing just 1 pound at 25 weeks, has finally gone home after spending 622 days in the hospital.

A Fragile Beginning

When Kingston Bryant was born at just 455 grams, doctors feared he would not survive. His lungs were severely underdeveloped, and his parents were warned he might never live beyond infancy.

“They told us that he wasn’t going to make it,” his mother, Kaycee Hartman, recalled. “Sometimes these kids, as they continue to grow, their lungs are just so premature that they wouldn’t be able to exceed a certain age.”

Despite overwhelming odds, Kingston fought through countless challenges during his 16 months in intensive care at Norton Children’s Hospital. His family described moments where they believed they had said their last goodbyes, only for Kingston to pull through once again.
