Louisville cracks down on illegal dumping

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville’s Department of Public Works said it has seen an increase of people on camera illegally dumping their unwanted trash across the city.

Karen Maynard, solid waste education manager, said the residents caught were fined and had their cars impounded. She said the locations of where trash is dumped varies as the department receives resident reports that offer potential hot spots, such as between abandoned properties and beaten-down paths.

“Our teams use all the information available that we have to decide where we might put cameras or targeted education, but it can be anywhere,” Maynard said. “But we definitely have some places that are more concentrated.”…
