Feds support former LMPD detective remaining free as he appeals verdict in Breonna Taylor case

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Brett Hankison, the former LMPD detective sentenced to over two years for his role in the botched raid that ended the life of Breonna Taylor, is asking to remain free as he appeals his sentencing and conviction.

The motion was filed Aug. 28 by Hankison’s attorneys.

The U.S. Department of Justice, which initially requested that Hankison not receive prison time in his sentencing, is not opposing Hankison staying out of jail under the same conditions of bond previously set pending his appeal, according to court documents…
