Louisville Police: Violent crime down, work far from over

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — As of Sept. 1, Louisville continues to see violent crime drop, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department, with homicides, non-fatal shootings and carjackings down 31% across the board.

While there has been a drop in calls for services, LMPD Chief Paul Humphrey said officers’ efforts have gone up. He credited the ongoing crime drop to LMPD’s ongoing community engagement efforts.

“In combination with the community’s input and the community’s lack of tolerance for the spike in crime that we’d had over the past five years has led to those improvements in the numbers that you’ve seen,” Humphrey said. ” … So very proud of the work that the officers of LMPD are doing and the cooperation that we have with the community ongoing.”…
