Cancer survivor bikes to beat disease in honor of his late mother

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bike to Beat Cancer takes off on Saturday morning in Louisville. So far, it’s pulled in over $600,000 in donations.

Chris Crews captains team 182, named for his mother’s clock out number. Through riding bikes, he’s raised thousands of dollars to help cancer patients for nearly a decade now.

“Bike to Beat Cancer is, for a lot of folks, that victory lap every year,” he said. “To come back, time after time, and say, ‘I made it. I did it.’ Or to honor a loved one. Or honor someone who’s going through that fight.”…
