LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Metro Government Planning Commission voted against recommending the Metro Council to rezone a residential plot of land in Newburg into an industrial zone for a tow lot.
A decision that came as a win to the dozens of Newburg residents who attended the public hearing Tuesday night.
“I’m encouraged that the commissioners that are serving have the interest of the community at heart,” said Rev. Roosevelt Lightsy Jr., president of the Newburg ministerial association. “Too many times, projects are initiated, they’re started, they’re launched, and then they come and ask the community to accept it. That’s putting the cart before the horse. It’s important that the voice of the people be heard.”
The proposed lot would be located at 4215 and 4217 E. Indiana Trail. The plan would convert the residential space into a tow lot, turn the two existing structures into office space, and pave the property to accommodate up to 150 cars…
