JCPS students question officials about school safety

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County Public School (JCPS) students had a chance to bring their concerns about safety to school system officials, bringing up events of bullying and fights, drug use, shootings, and not following protocol, among others.

One asked about a multimillion-dollar budget deficit the school district is facing, asking if this will affect student safety.

JCPS officials, including the district’s police force, bullying prevention team, the culture and climate department, and Perry Elementary’s principal, heard student concerns in the school cafeteria.
