Experts say changes to Affordable Care Act could hit Kentucky families hard

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Susan Bornstein spent decades as a physician, but after seeing her patients struggle with the cost and access to care, she decided to start her own nonprofit to help Kentuckians understand the system.

“Half of adults who purchase health insurance on who are purchasing health insurance on the marketplace are small business owners, employees or are self-employed, and their premium costs are estimated to go up about 11%,” said Bornstein, the CEO of the Asclepius Initiative, a Louisville-based nonprofit.
